Dry Hire Terms & Conditions



When hiring equipment from us you are agreeing to and are bound by these terms and conditions.

‘The equipment’ shall mean any items hired by Devon Sound and Light, and ‘the customer’ refers to the person, firm, corporate or public body hiring the equipment. All equipment supplied to the customer remains the property of Devon Sound and Light at all times.


Hire charges are for 20 hours or part thereof, and are charged daily whether or not the equipment is in use. Equipment will be charged for whilst ON HIRE and will not be considered OFF HIRE until it is returned to Devon Sound and Lights premises.

Additional charges accrue at the full daily hire rate together with consequential loss in the event of the breach of these conditions, or the equipment not being available for hire/use by other customers.

A non-refundable deposit is required on booking the hire. Payment must be made in full on receipt of the equipment whether picked up from Devon Sound and Lights’ premises or delivered to the customer at a specified location. If cancellation is made within 24 hours of the start of the period of hire then the hire rate will be charged in full. A proof of ID (i.e.: driving licence or passport) is required to be left with Devon Sound and Light for the duration of the hire.

Hired equipment is NOT INSURED by Devon Sound and Light; customers are advised to insure the hired equipment against loss, fire, damage or third party claims, as the customer is held responsible for the equipment when it is off our premises. It is your responsibility to also provide adequate PLI cover for guests and yourself whilst using this equipment. We accept no responsibility for PLI or any other damage incurred from using this equipment. PLI stands for Public Liability.

The customer assumes full responsibility for loss of or damage to the hire equipment (other than fair wear and tear) from the time the equipment leaves Devon Sound and Light premises or transport, until it is returned.

All equipment is tested prior to collection/delivery and is supplied in good working order, our equipment is electrically safe (PAT tested) and well maintained. Devon Sound and Light accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused by the misuse of hired equipment.

In the event of loss or theft of the equipment Devon Sound and Light will invoice the customer for the full price for replacement of the equipment. In the event of damage to the equipment, Devon Sound and Light will invoice the customer in full for the repairs to the equipment. Devon Sound and Light cannot be held responsible for the equipment not working or working incorrectly due to circumstances out of its control (i.e.: power issues).

Devon Sound and Light are not to be any way liable for not supplying a service because of an event that is beyond Devon Sound and Lights control. This can include (but not limited to) acts of terrorism, social unrest, protests, extreme weather or a natural disaster.

Acceptance of equipment acknowledges acceptance of these terms and conditions.
